PPL has Shurflo water pumps on sale:

We have used the 4008 for over a year and it worked just fine for us and may be a touch quieter than the later 4048.
And there is a big price difference between the models, but they both work the same way, with an internal water flow bypass to keep pump running at low faucet flows.

Can these pumps be used with the surge tank?

Yes, all water pumps can be used with an accumulator / surge tank.

Not all 12vdc pumps do well with an accumulator tank. You have to check the pump specs.

OK now that I have egg all over my face I do have a question about pumps.

Will this pump increase the flow to the shower on my 1998 U270?

Right now the water just barely runs. Don't know what is in there for a pump other than OEM. Haven't had to much time to dig into it since returning home 3 weeks ago, going through ratiation treatments driving 60 miles a day 5 days a week.

Norm. Check to see that you have the water fill valve in the right position before you condemn the pump.  If it is in the tank fill position that will decrees the flow from the pump.

You may also have a problem with the mixing valve for the shower. If you have good pressure to the sink, then it is probably the valve. There are other past threads on repairing the shower.

Also check that the shower head isn't clogged with gunk.  Disconnect it from hose and see what you get.

We switched OEM shower head for low flow, high pressure head from RV Water Filter Store: Useful Gadgets for the RV (http://www.rvwaterfilterstore.com/UsefulGadgets.htm). We also added one of the valves at the shower head that allows on/off/flow control at the shower head without changing the main valve. We've been pleased with the change.

You might want to consider changing the shower head after all the other issues have been addressed.

You also might check the shower head (and other faucets) for calcium deposits.

I soak our shower head in CLR occasionally, does a great job keeping the shower head flowing. You can get CLR at Wally World. Great stuff.

Oxygenics is my choice for showerhead.  It can't build up deposits and has excellent pressure at very low flow rate.

Most pumps will work with a surge tank,however if you are going to change out your surge tank,get one that is used for hot water as it has a different bladder material and should last longer, this info came from my plumber that has worked with me for years.

Can this head be used with existing shower head height adjustment tube. The DW is only 4'9" and is about to have a shoulder replacement so she can not hold the head. Due to other problems she also has a balance situation.
