Title: New batteries in 2013 (split from Re: What did you do to your coach today)
Post by: John S on March 23, 2013, 10:17:13 pm
Speaking of what did I do today... well I got three new house batteries. I am going to take them to Nac to have them installed.  I almost killed my back putting them under the coach.  Now way I am going to put them in place. I called MOT and FOT and found that I could bet the batteries about 200 dollars cheaper per battery and  I will take the old ones back and get about 150 bucks for it as a core return.  I was quoted 647 in Nac or there a bouts and I got then for about 447 after my core return.

I found the battery place just down from MOT to be the cheapest one around there when I needed a new house gel 8D. I should have waited as I threw them all out and got Lifeline AGMs a year later and the best price was at AMSOLAR in Oregon. Now they are 200 bucks more each

I decided to stay with gells. I guess carrying down is not a huge problem and getting a core charge back will be nice too.  Thanks for the info, I will see if I can find it when I am in Nac. May need one or two more then.

That place in Nac. below MOT is A&D Hydraulics & Batteries.  They sell all types of Batteries and great for hydraulic lines also.  Chappell

We bought a couple of 8D AGMs from the folks next to MOT. They did a geat job of removal and installation.Total under $1000. We were happy and still are!

May I ask what brand?  We're due for batteries this year.

12 Volt 225 Ah Gel Cell Sealed Lead Acid Battery: BatteryMart.com (http://www.batterymart.com/p-12v-225ah-sealed-lead-acid-gel-battery.html)

it had the same specs as what I got from Allen at MOT but cheaper.

Thanks, John, the question was directed to lgshoup since we will be looking at AGMs again, not gels.  Will be comparing to what Danny's RV here in Denton can do for us.

We bought Dekas as well last fall.  We bought thru FOT and they were pricey But the reason was due to the fact that our house batteries are between the Aqua Hot and our outdoor entertainment center in the center of our coach!

FOT designed it this way and i was not going to lug multiple 160lb batteries into the tiny little space nor was Bill.  Bob at FOT bitched the entire time he was installing them!  Between his language and where they needed to be installed, I think it was money well spent!
