Title: Trik-L-Start life expectance (split from Re: What did you do to your coach today)
Post by: Don Hay on March 23, 2013, 01:18:51 am
My 6 year old Trik-L-Start developed a nickel-sized bump on the left front face of the box. :(  That, coupled with the fact that my 8D chassis battery (lead-acid) wouldn't turn over the starter after sitting 3 months while being plugged in continuously to 50 amp shore power suggested to me that the Trik-L-Start wasn't charging any longer. >:( After leaving the Boost switch on for about 3-4 minutes the engine started easily. Therefore, today I installed a new Ultra Trik-L-Start.  Hopefully this will address the issue.  Has anyone else had experience with Trik-L-Start's cratering after several years?

Howdy Don,
I had a Trik-l-Start fail on my previous SOB after two years.  I installed one on our current FT and not had any issues.. I do carry a spare.
Good Luck,  Dave A

edit:  Forgot to mention the one on the FT is over three years old.

I might have to look into getting a new one now that you mention it.  Mine is 5 years old as well.
