Dave and Dolly,
Kent and Peggy sure enjoyed that coach. Spent many a wonderful times travailing the USA.
Something about a Foretravel......they can be addictive. I remember a tread (?) on how many Foretravels have you owned... Was impressive the number of folk who started out like you, Kent, us and just keep trading up. We just left Buckhorn Lake RV resort and saw Bob and Debs coach (??) Their 8th Foretravel...
Our next one will be a 5 or 6 year old Phenix... but, can't trade up yet-still have a bunch of upgrades to do first...:) seems we get the coach the way we want it , then change direction. Can't believe my DW hasn't left me in a rest stop or along side the road.....
Congratulations on your new 98...lots to learn....enjoy
Congratulations, Dave. You'll love the 98 U295. That Cummins 325 is a great engine. The coach works is also one of the best Foretravel made.
Just curious,Where in Port A did y'all get the wash and wax? and how much??
We called our contact, and he came to us. First time was 3 guys almost 7 hours, top to bottom, and the second time back, we were still clean and shinny. Two guys 5 hours, and we were good to show. Just two weeks ago in Fredericksburg a younger harder working man, did the coach himself in 5 hours, again top to bottom.
As we are stored inside, and I rinse off the coach many times, and always wipe it down after any trip, it stays clean and shinny, the water beading up on the wax.
In Port A, call Miguel at Portable Detailing, 361-749-7759, cost was maybe $5 per foot? He does work all up and down the island, and we saw him doing a brand new Foretravel with paper buyer's tag at Gulf Waters RV Park, the last time we were down in March.
There are a number of mobile detail companies, but we stay on private property on the harbor, and miss the RV park vendors traffic.
Congratulations Dave and Dolly....you have quite a story to tell of the time here in Fredericksburg! We had a great time with you, leave tomorrow. I guess our photos of your motorcycle lift just lost a bit of being news?
By the way, ended up with seven Foretravel owners here and three saying they will join the Foreforum.
But again, so happy for you three, and your mom too for her next visit-trip.
Mike and Jackie
There is more to the story. The sellers have canceled their purchase of the 03 they found. They are still in the hunt for another coach, 36', but with more living room. They travel 5-6 months, and do long multi month stays thru the winter in TX. So they are heading back to CO, in the U295. I now have more time maybe to sell the U225, a BMW R1200 GSA, and the Saturn. The closing date can now be moved out, as there is no trade deal in NAC.
Well dang it all.....I was looking forward to a coach swapping party around May 6 and another chance to be with you guys and them!
I thought they wanted a 36 ft most of all but especially a slide? I saw a sign coming into Nac just now that there is a 2002 at a dealer here, two slides. Pretty photos, about all I know.
I know though there is that 1996 29 ft Winnebago for sale, maybe you could factor that into a deal, get er done?
mike
call Miguel at Portable Detailing, 361-749-7759, cost was maybe $5 per foot?
Thanks for the info.. Next time around I'm going to give him a call
Well, the newest news this morning is the seller has made a deal with FOT. So we are back on for a closing in May again. We have been up and down this week, but nowhere as much as the buyers trying to make their deal.
Congratulations. That is a fine looking coach.
Yesterday morning at 9:20, we made the deal at FT. and Tyle F. took our Credit card #. We then went to FT to do a test drive at 10:00. As we were walking to the coach, Tyle got a tweet that there was a 2nd deposit from another interested party. As Dave has said, this has been one of the most exhausting things we have done. Our old coach is in excellent condition and should give D. and D. lots of great traveling until they go for a Phoenix Norm H
Thrilled that the deals are happening.
Now we just need to meet the new buyer of our coach, and soon we hope.
Sold the coach tonight, to the first couple to see the coach. Ends their year long search. We are so happy to be able to welcome them into the Foretravel family.
They are scheduled for the Jimmy Buffet 3 day weekend here in Dallas. I asked it they were planning to take the coach? "No way, we are taking a rental!"
Dave,
Congrats on the sale of the coach. It has quite the pedigree. Now you can concentrate on the new coach!
Congrats. I see your new one here on the lot
Congrats! I hope they become FoFums!
(I'll bet the snazzy mud flap clinched the deal ;) )
Thanks all, and yes your re-cycled old rubber and SS parts that became my "new" snazzy mud flap got a mention as we did the walk around. Plus seeing the work in progress photos, on the linked site.
They have to become forum members... we can't lose a U225!!! But congrats you guys. It will be interesting to see how you adapt to the new-to-you coach. Wider, taller, heavier and more complicated. Now you won't need a Banks. :P
Craig
Funny you mention the Banks, as they knew about them and want to add the system. I mentioned you had one on your 36'. They are sure to join the Forum, and have followed my links, to Barry's sites. They had not been in a Foretravel, but lots of SOB, and both were blown away with the build list. Seeing my coach, the condition, the interior fit and finish, they were all smiles as they showed each other what they were finding.
I am in a fog, with all this happening so quickly. And sitting in the warehouse after they left for home, I was sad to think that it will be leaving. It is family to us. Good times will be remembered.
Hi Dave and Dolly,
So very nice to have met you and Dolly last week at the FT lot while you were deciding on the purchase of the new coach.
I am glad to see everything is working out, now having sold the GV coach and you both are ready to enjoy the new coach!
The new coach has all you wanted and I know you were so excited to have found it!!!
Enjoy and I hope to see you both soon down the road.
Tony
Thank you Toni for the tour of your coach, your time, help and ideas. We loved the layout that you have with the traditional front door entry.
But as we understand, Foretravel only built 4 mid doors in 1998. We feel fortunate to have lucked onto our new mid door coach.
Today the metal building guy is cutting back the overhanging carport 20' roof, taking off 10' to allow the new coach to back under and to the 12' door. I have to remove the sat. dish, (don't have or need the service), that is on the U295, but we will be able to park inside.
Dave, what is a u2955,is that a 295 and a half, check your signature line, I just couldn't resist. :)) ^.^d
Congrats on the new coach.
I was doing the signature changes last night, just no way to go to sleep. Good catch, and I also need correct my build number as well.
D & D well done on the sale and purchase.
I have a Banks on my 295 and would not be without it.-no contest!
John H
I didn't know it was a mid-door. Wow! Great find! We much prefer mid-doors too. Have I missed photos around here somewhere?
Craig
Dave, Peggy says call them right now and tell them if they ever sell it to call her first. She still loves that old beast and if we ever buy a sticks and bricks again, she wants it back.
We know Peggy still loves the U225. When we were visiting together in NAC at Camp Foretravel back in January I came back to the the coach and found Peggy, with a couple of friends, and she was giving them a tour of her old coach.
I will pass your contact info to them on Sat. when we do the PDI. They are going to do some full timing asap.
The old coach left today, new owners were happy beyond belief. Kent will be interested that they intend to add the Banks system, that Kent did not add for me to enjoy. ;)
I did explain how Peggy and Kent wanted 1st right of refusal some day.
Now to somehow wait 10 more days to see and get our U295. We have huge empty spot in the warehouse, floor is clean, and carport has been modified for the new coach to be able to get to the big door.
Dave.....when you get the new coach in, let me know and maybe The Chairman and I can come down and finalize the RCI application for Bill and yourself and have a celebration!!
I see your coach sitting here it is looking good
Well we have taken possession. We had the hand over of keys, gotten some many questions answered. We escaped FOT this morning, and are camped about 4 miles from the house. Dolly is refusing to go home!
Tomorrow we are off to the warehouse to load the stuff off the shelves and organize ourselves. Then I guess we head home. I am ready to go fulltime. If someone would give me an hour's head start in the house they could have everything left for $10,000.
The new U295 is more than we expected, power, space, storage, ride and drive. We lucked into this rare mid door 36'. Let the good times continue.
Only one thing to say;
Congratulations and may you enjoy it in god health for many years to come.
Keith & Joyce
We haven't seen our "Open House/Coach" invitation in the mail yet.... hint hint....
Dave.........the RCI members are calling for another meeting with you and Bill at the storage facility sometime in the near future.....what you all think? We need a coach tour!
Well, we will miss you. We have it turns out said good bye to norm and Shirl today as they too are leaving.
And Shirl said, they are so happy that you two got the coach. Your enthusiasm and excitement made their letting it go almost okay!
I have to say though that their new coach is special too, beautiful. Making this change must be equally fun for them.
Jackie and I got such pleasure just seeing you two couples so happy! A special couple of days for us.
Be safe, will send you photos of FB.
Mike
Congrats Dave, Dolly and Claire. I remember the first drive in our U300 and how much different the power and feel was. I loved the old one but the U300 is even better. Not to say that we wouldn't want the U225 back if we ever get a house again.
Seems a win for all as we were ready to upgrade and that was great timing for Norm and Shirl to grab their beautiful 320 that looks brand new and has 2 slides.
Steve and Michelle you are welcome down to the warehouse any time.
Steve and the RCI committee are welcome as well, for a Pourtravel tour and sit down.
Congratulations on new Bus! Safe travels! Josh
How fun to read about all the win/wins in the various "coach exchanges," especially as we are in the throes of looking at Foretravels to see if they are for us/find the right one. If your ex-U225 had the capacity to tow our trailer I would have loved it. Your new coach sounds amazing too - U295 and mid-door?! Nifty!
Here's to wonderful times for all in their new rigs.
Alex
"Steve and Michelle you are welcome down to the warehouse any time."
I second that !!!
