What is the best contraption for pulling out the window awnings? There was nothing left in the coach to do that job.
Suggestions?
Thanks,
OH
Gary B. had an elegant, Poortravel solution
Awning tool (http://www.foreforums.com/index.php?topic=14962.0)
You can also contact Zip Dee. They have the "official" tool and would be more than happy to send one to you......for a cost!

What a great idea. Thank you. OH
Zip Dee customer service is excellent - they were most helpful to us when we had a patio awning problem on our 25' Airstream travel trailer. Below is a drawing of the tool from their website; the handle and pull ends are red vinyl on ours - did you check to see if it rolled under the Joey bed, perhaps?
FYI, here is the ZipDee contact info from their website:
You can order your awning or parts direct from our Customer Service department, or from any of our authorized Zip Dee Dealers. Just call our Customer Service department at 800-338-BEST (2378). No automated voicemail at Zip Dee, our phones are answered in person. Be sure to have the year, make and model of your RV ready for faster service.
A place that sells RV supplies is likely to sell awning hooks. We bought a long one at MOT (Motorhomes of Texas in Nacogdoches). A shorter one would probably be a bit easier to use. The modified golf shaft would probably work best. The modified golf shaft would probably serve as a snake handling tool, also.
JD, the long (original) one is just barely adequate for me (I'm 5'3")... so shorter vs longer preference may be a matter of the user's height (and strength... that slide awning takes a bit of muscle!). :))
Dave, if you forgot where you saw a modified golf club/awning puller/snake hook, it was me. It works great on the Zip Dee Awnings as well as Eastern and Western Diamondbacks. It allows one to collect those cute little squirmy critters to impress all the kids in the campground.
Peggy usually comes back within a week or two after I release the snakes back to the wild. ;D ;D ;D
I have several awning tools made up from golf shafts in the trunk of the Saturn. If you are at the SC/FL Joint Rally in Brunswick it will be first come first served.

Just don't order a new Chevy pickup at the Chevy dealer in Jamestown, NY and get upset when it doesn't come in. They had a guy who had, and it didn't, and he walked into the show room and turned a bag of them loose. Then he walked in to the sales managers office and said he would gather them up when he got his new pickup. They somehow found him one that afternoon.
