Title: T/S Arm Still Holding
Post by: ROADSTAR04 on April 28, 2013, 01:03:03 pm
Just a quick update. I repaired the broken T/S arm on my 92 U225, by filling the cavity at the break with epoxy and thin strip of metal (rebarb) and replacing the strip and screws. If you have this problem this seems to be holding. Remember it will be a one time fix.

"T/S"?  Turn Signal?

I attempted to repair my arm with epoxy but it failed when I put too much pressure. I formed a piece of aluminum to fit the arm and epoxied over arm. After it dries sufficiently, I will trim the clamp flanges and paint to match arm. Hopefully, the aluminum will give it enough strength to withstand my abuse.

I repaired my turn signal plastic with JB Weld two years ago and it is still holding together. ^.^d ^.^d ;D It had broken just above the metal shaft so there was enough plastic left to adhere to.
It broke when I tried to turn on the high beams and it turned out I had the steering wheel telescoped down to the point where the headlight high beam switch wouldn't activate. Dumbass tried to pull a "little" more. Got it, all right!!
