Title: Javelina Camera
Post by: sueb on May 08, 2013, 09:21:11 pm
Wondering if the back up camera can easily be adjusted.
Our 2000 U320 has a slight glitch in the camera...  the car is no longer in the picture. For some reason the angle is directed down to just past the hitch area so it's useless when passing or reentering the driving lane.
There are adjustments on the box itself under dash,  but am reluctant to screw up the tank levels and compass/temp features.
The grill in front of the camera does not appear to have fastenings, IF that's how to correct this.
Appreciate any thoughts,    thanks Sue and Fred

During one of my visits to FOT last fall, an owner, had stressed that Javelina instruements, were certainly still in business and there was a gal there on their phone line(did not record her name) who was exceptionally helpful. He stated that the company Javelina was still in business and doing fine and parts were available, but FOT seemed to have chosen 'not' to use their products anymore.

Got a Javelina? try calling direct.

For me? I found NO problem in having gauges and monitor fixed at FOT.. Great place!!

My 1990 U280 is MUCH older and may not be relevant.  However, the camera is mounted inside a 'pipe' and secured with a set-screw against the glass plate facing out.  I could, and have, adjusted the angle when it rotated out of level.  It could be that your camera is tilted and checking the fit and alignment in the pipe might fix the problem.  My camera access panel is an obvious square of paneling secured to the back of the center cabinet over the bed.

Perhaps it will help.

Our '93 U300 had a B&W camera and was fogged up inside. Not much chance of fixing it plus the new cameras are so inexpensive, are color and have great night illumination so it's hard to pass one up. The image at night is actually better than the day view. I was really impressed. For less than $50 delivered, how can you lose? Still works great 3 years later.

The electrical connections are very easy. Mounting it neatly takes more time.

Howdy Sue and Fred,
We have a '00 U320 that has a switch on the dash that changes the angle of the camera.  One switch position has the image exactly as you describe and the other switch postition will change the camera angle to see the toad.  This switch is directly below the Switch marked "Select".  The switch is above and slightly to the left of the ignition switch.  This switch is not marked.
Good Luck, Dave A

Dave, have you ever investigated to see how that works? I would love to be able to change angles on my camera view.

Howdy Kent,
That's one of those things on the "round to it" list.  I've been curious how this changes the angle, its almost like the camera actually shifts up/down a few degrees...Anyway, someday!!  Hope all is well, ttyl, Dave A
