Title: looking at used 1996 U295 near me
Post by: gootie on May 12, 2013, 09:02:47 am
1996 Foretravel U295, MILWAUKEE WI - 110330886 - RVTrader.com (http://www.rvtrader.com/listing/1996-Foretravel-U295-110330886)
I haven't contacted seller yet. I'm a year away from planned purchase but this would be considered. I am aware of recommended things to look at as seen on foreforum. One deal breaker is the presence of thermopane windows or lack thereof. Did this year have them?

Take a look at Foretravel Specifications, Floor Plans, Photos & Brochures by Year (https://wiki.foreforums.com/doku.php?id=through_the_years:specs) for more information. You may need to check that particular coach out, since sometimes dual-pane windows were added as an option, either at building time or later.

The 1996 did not come standard with Dual Pane Windows.

We were second in line for this one, but the first people bought it (we're a bit heartbroken at the moment).

I don't believe it had dual-pane windows.

If that coach had the upgrade the windows are likely Creation, which is out of business.  They have the sometimes problems of seal creep.  They can repaired as needed, and at least 2 companies offer camping on site as the work is done.

I think the dual panes started in 97 or 98.  But unless you plan to live in the winter conditions, understand there is plenty of furnace power.  We could keep ourselves warm and cool with half the units down to 27 and up to 100.

My 98 has the dual pane, and a couple have minor seal creep.  MOT said they had a coach in that was perfect windows one week and most windows creeped the next.  Temp., sun, altitude change, who knows?

Great responses. The unit can only be viewed by appt in Stevens Point. I am in Madison. The window issue doesn't totally turn me off. I recall camping in older trailers/motorhomes and having foggy windows no matter howmany vents were opened.
I may attempt to ask the specific question of the owner.
Thanks to all

I looked at the original ad and it seems like a nice coach.  I would go and see it ASAP!  Like Tim I am quite close so if you have any questions just PM me.
