Title: Frig Service
Post by: jor on May 12, 2013, 10:38:18 pm
Still workin' on the 95 getting it ready for travel. Today I serviced the frig (RM-7130). It was cooling well and making ice. Anyhow, I cleaned the burner, electrode and thermocouple and brushed out the flue. In order to do the flue I had to remove the spiral baffle. Ever seen one? I hadn't. Anyhow, I was surprised at how much rust junk brushed out of the flue. We may end up changing over to a residential but I want to see how this one works for now. I think I'll put in one of those halon fire extinguishers just in case.

Great photos!

Where's the baffle located and how did you remove it - top?  Bottom?

The spiral baffle is located within the flue. It hangs on a wire attached to a cap on the top of the flue so you have to pull it from the top. If you stick your finger up into the flue from the bottom (right above the burner) you can feel the tip of the baffle. Kind of a primitive little deal but from what I hear, the frig is much less efficient without one in place. Here's a photo of the top of the flue. You can just see the top of the wire (arrow).
