Does the generator in a 1989 Grand Villa slide out, I have been looking at it, it has two bolts underneath that hold it in,
But it does not look like it slides out, I dont want to have it drop through the holes it sits on when I take out the bolts,
If yours is like my 95U280, the generator will slide out. There is a slide on each side of the generator with a bolt on the top that locks the slide in place. Remove the bolts and, with a little effort, it should slide out. Don't forget to replace the bolts when you are done. :D
Brian,
On my 225, the generator did not slide like on the 280 or 300 coaches. Not what you might have hoped for, but the problem with the short bay heights, and the propane units.
The later models had slide out gens, Mines a propane unit,
But I am not sure if it does, Trial and error, Hahaha
I had a 1988 GV with the propane generator, When I had a problem the shop used a fork lift to set it on and take it into there shop to work on the unit
There was a thread in the last year about how to remove the propane generator from the very tight bay. It was removed to clean up and replace the bad insulation and get to the rear spark plug that is all but impossible to reach.
!988 is the same as mine, did they slide it out onto the fork, or lift it out with the fork lift.
Do you know where I can look for that last years thread,
I used search, put in propane generator removal, clicked advanced and select the past 600 days and found these 2 threads. Hope that helps!

Couple of tines bolted to the front bucket on a tractor will also do the job. I have a tractor but no forklift.

Thanks Michelle,
That was very good info, I have that bolt half way thru at the front, I didnt see it on mine, The first link is the same as mine,
I am not very good on computers, One of these new fangled thingys I am getting used too, Plus I am only mechanical, not electrical,
Pierce, I have tractor and backhoe on it, But I have lifting gear as well, Much safer than the tractor,
There is only me, so no spare hand to help, I have to think things out very carefully before lifting,
Brian,
My '92 U-280 has a Kubota, 7.5 KW generator; it does not slide out. The main way to get it out is to remove the fiberglass bottom panel, remove the bolts, jack it up (a transmission jack works well) and remove it with a fork lift. Wish I had better news.
They certainly do change the models around, Just in 3 years, Mines a 6.5 Onan on LPG, There is no floor under the generator,
I have had a good look at it, Looks like it may slide out about half way,
The exhaust has to be removed before it will move any where, It goes thru a little hole,
