Title: Mirror Lights ?
Post by: Old Hippie on June 09, 2013, 03:52:29 pm
On my 2002 U320 both mirrors have an amber light on the bottom of the arm. I could not get it to light; turn signal, lights on, etc.
What should these lights be doing?

They are turn signal indicator lights. They work in conjunction with the turn signal arrow indicators in the mirrors.  Head lights do not need to be on.  They work all the time when the turn signal is activated.

On my 98 model, they blink with the turn signal lever as well.

You can check the bulbs and also check if the lights are getting power when the turn signals are on. If no power possible that the harness is unplugged to the mirror

Did you replace the entire assembly? If so, then what fits well? Thanks!

Geez, I purchased all the LED lights from Truck Parts East 434 978 1141, No idea the part number, but they seemed to know what I was after, the counter guy just grabbed all the lights, turned out they all were the exact ones I needed.  Maybe Ed Purcell had trained them.  Think they were Truck Lite brand name. Most any truck supplier should have them, so you can match em up.
They look real close in size, slightly differengt length, so had to drill and tap the needed hole in the mirror arm. Maybe a 8/32 thread, been awhile ago & I forget.

Thanks for the information. I'll look through the Truck-Lite catalog.

Thanks everyone. I will check the bulb/wiring. This forum is a great resource!
