Title: Switch--What does it do?
Post by: Rich Bowman on June 18, 2013, 09:12:31 pm
Just found a switch and can't figure out what it is suppose to do.  It is located to the right of the passenger seat, next to the step cover switch.  It is labeled "Ground Lights."  It has an indicator light (that does not work) like the one to the right of the steps as you enter.  That switch is labeled "Interior" and works fine.  Any suggestions?

Sounds like the optional exterior ground effect lighting some folks have.

Thanks!  Now to find out where they are and why they aren't working.

It is indeed ground effect lighting.  A segment is under your step, and another segment is behind the wheelwell, going about 16 feet along the edge of the underside of the coach.  The lighting is replaceable and Action Lighting in Montana sells a 100 ft roll for about the same price as the FT replacement.  Mine was riveted on.  I drilled out the rivets and installed the nylon loops from Action lighting and replaced mine.  In the old archives, there is probably a big discussion.  How do I replace the "toe kick" light in the bathroom? (http://www.foreforums.com/index.php?topic=12718.msg67473#msg67473) The lighting can be cut every 6" and a complete circuit is made.  It is a nice little project to replace, as some or all of the bulbs go out.  Wait til night and see if you have some, all or none of the lights.  The replacement I bought from Action Lighting has kept working a lot longer than the original.  I sent a few folks here some pieces of leftover I had.  It is the same stuff as you have inside the coach.  PM me if you need any more info.

An amazing collection of quality parts ;D
