Title: 500 lumen flashlight
Post by: Barry & Cindy on July 05, 2013, 10:57:00 pm
We found the brightest flashlight we have ever had, just ask Gary Omel.

Costco online item # 776668, Feit Electric 500 lumen, 3 C-cell batteries each, 3-pack, $54.99, about $18 each.

REALLY far light throw.  Other places selling them, but for higher cost.  Well made case, switch & battery contacts.

Many bright LED flashlights use AAA batteries, not even AA, to keep them small, so they don't last long. And the $200+ LED flashlights with rechargeable batteries use Lithium batteries that can easily catch on fire, so the LED flashlights with three C-cells are a welcome sight in the market place. Our new 500 lumen flashlight will replace a very large and heavy Brinkman 2-million candlepower bright light we have used for years. We use our new 500 lumen light during the day to check all around the dark corners of the coach when looking for water leaks and problems. Very handy and inexpensive and easy to find with a Google search "FEIT Electric 500 Lumens".

Like Tonka, we also purchased a few months ago, our 500 lumen flashlights at Costco for about $15 each in a package of two. We wanted to buy another, but the Cleveland OH Costco only had a AAA battery version. Yesterday we found that Costco online has them for $18 each in a package of three.

Barry & Cindy,,,    I really like my new flash light. The dogs and I go for the nightly walk and find all sorts of "big game" to sniff and taste.
 Thanks again.

For a pocket flashlight, Costco has been carrying a pack of 3 250-lumen (AAA cells) for $19. We bought two packs. I've carried a flashlight in my pocket for 30 years (on ships it pays to have one handy) and this is by far the best pocket flashlight I've found.

Sue and I recently re-rode the "Route of the Hiawatha" Rails-to-Trails in Montana and we each had one of these fastened to the handlebars and they worked great.

The Costco 250 lumen flashlights are from the same manufacturer of the 500 lumen that we find so useful. It looked just as well made and is much smaller and lighter than our C-cell version.

Are you saying you guys rode the bike trail at night?

Good timing as I was in the market for a couple of these. I just ordered the 3 online. 8)

This particular bike trail has several old railroad tunnels; one of which is 1.66 miles long (with a curve) and no light at the end of the tunnel until you're almost there. Darker than any trail I've been on. Google "Route of the Hiawatha".

But I actually have ridden trails at night with decent lights on the bike. :)

I just received my flashlights. They came pretty quick. I have to agree about the brightness. Pretty awesome on spot or flood.

Glad to hear that your Costco has the 500 lumen C-cell flashlight. Our Costco only has the 250 lumen AAA-cell flashlight. We just received our Costco online order of triple 500 lumens and were very surprised to see the box contained three separate blister packs of single flashlights each.

Mine came the same way. I found 1 not working. I will take it back to the local store for a replacement.

My three pack came yesterday from Costco.  Checked each one to make sure they worked, they did.  Wow!  Pretty bright, really bright ... and then I tried them after dark, Wow!  And just for good measure they flash like a strobe light and flash an SOS pattern as well as high and low beam.  They have a wide beam and narrow beam sliding lens.  The narrow beam is square as Barry's picture shows.  Great for looking into corners.  They are probably heavy enough to use as a tool to break a window for an emergency escape.  Maybe George up there in Alaska could use one to ward off the moose.  Does it get dark at night up there?

Anyone figure out the best way to use the wrist strap?  Doesn't seem to be any holes to thread the loop through but it will fit around the battery end cap with some patience.

Thanks for the heads up on these flash lights.  Nice.

Roger

The only thing I could figure out is unscrew the bottom and put the batteries in, then wrap the strap around the base before putting the bottom piece back on.

They are not available in Canada (the govt like to keep us in the dark, I guess) and we are not members of Costco so if some one wants to get them for me and mail to our mail delivery drop in Washington by the border I will send the money to cover all costs

Look closely for hole smaller than pencil lead. Push small loop through that hole, thread large loop through smaller loop and tighten

Thanks Tim,

I looked at first and didn't see the hole.  It is where I would have expected it to be but just didn't see it.  One of these really bright flashlights shining on another one and there was the little hole.

I missed out on this when originally posted. Costco sold out before I could get one.

Yesterday Kent Speers told me they have them at the Costco in Tucson. It's a 500 Lumens Duracell but looks almost just like the Feit. You get 2 flashlights and 6 Duracell C batteries for $24.99. I picked up a set today. Only thing I see missing is the strap. Great deal. Great flashlight.

So anyone else that missed getting the Feit. Go get a Duracell before they are gone! :))

see ya

We saw Ken's Duracell flashlights and they look good and are priced right. Costco also has FEITs

Harvey,  you will like them.  They use C batteries but they last for a long time.  I haven't changed any yet.  Vey nice lights.

My flashlight is brighter than your flashlight...

Costco has a 1500 lumen light on sale. I purchased one but when I went back to get the link for this post it said it was out of stock.  I suppose I got the last one.  Kind of negates the usefulness of this post!  But do I get the prize for most lumens?

These may be a bit pricey, but this is the real deal.  Can also be used to break glass as in car in pond type....

If you want to become a flashaholic like me, check out dx.com.i particularly like the high lumen zoom lens flashlights that use 18650 rechargable lithium batteries. For safety get the protected batteries.
