I recall reading many posts on this topic and seeing links to Amazon or Napa parts for these. My search yields Gates part #38504 (Pump tensioner),
#38516 for the alternator. Are these good numbers for a 99' ISC?
Thanks, Don

Thanks Barry! Your site is the first place I looked, but as far as I can tell, there aren't any part numbers for the belt tensioners... Just for the belts. Still hoping for some ForeForum corroboration before we order the part.

Oops I misread it.
Replacing Hydraulic Pump Tensioner (http://beamalarm.com/Documents/replacing_hydraulic_pump_tensioner.html)
Thanks for the link Barry! And thanks to Barry L for taking the trouble to document his change out of the belt tensioner... That is the one I needed. It appears that the Gates #38504 (the one with the non ribbed pulley which runs against the smooth back side of the belt) is the right one for the hydraulic pump across many years and is also used in the earlier 8.3C Cummins engines for the alternator as well. On the ISC, the alternator belt tensor pulley rides on the ribbed side of the belt and is apparently a Gates #38516 with a ribbed pulley. Tys has ordered the 38504 from Amazon and and it should arrive on my birthday... she always finds the perfect gift! :D
