My electrical master/buddy found something on my 97 u320 he had never seen. A 12 volt and 110 volt instant hot water dispenser. I vaguely remember such a thing
Button on cabinet in front of the cooktop had an extra unlabeled switch. Its the 12volt side. Wondering how big an element it has in it?

I have that on my 95 U320 too. The 110v I usually keep unplugged unless I feel I need it. It makes me nervous having that heating element active when I'm not around. It makes almost instant hot to just below boiling water. The 12v switched option takes awhile to fully heat the water tank.
I too had no idea of what that switch did until I went to rewire circuits under the sink and traced the wiring.
Glad I have it now, but would never had missed it.
Our 95 had it too. I took it out and replaced it with a soap dispenser. I think it drew 800 watts or so.

Not a bad idea. Had several customers long ago specify two soap dispensers. Dish and hand both. Had forgotten until you brought it up. Thanks
I had one on my '91. I too took it out and replaced with a soap dispenser. It had a 12 volt switch next to the sink but the 120VAC had only a wall plug to turn ON/OFF. For soap dispensers in the bathroom we use the residential wall mount units that you can find at HD/Lowes - 4 in shower(wife can't have enough different shampoos/conditioners), 2 at sink (soap and lotion) and one for soap in the utility bay.
When I was replacing my rear speaker (the ones in the kitchen) I found an AC outlet outboard of the driver's side speaker I never knew existed - and I've owned this coach 6 years!
We also have the two-way instant hot water dispenser in our 1997 U295. The thermal fuse for one side had failed. I replaced the thermal fuse. In the gang of switches near the sink are switches for the 12VDC and 120VAC heaters in the instant hot water device. There is a relay somewhere below the refrigerator for the 120VAC side. I can hear it click turning the 120VAC supply on or off when I operate the switch near the sink.
We leave the unit off most of the time. I find it handy for providing hot water for tea or coffee. The microwave oven works well for the same purpose. Ours works, so I plan to leave it in place.
Bob, my 94 and 95 coaches both had the 12vdc/120vac combination instant hot water dispensers. I wanted one installed in my 99 but the combination units were no longer available. I put in a 120vac unit and used it daily for instant hot water for my coffee (I use Melita, one cup units). I had one installed in my 03 coach when I bought it, still use it daily. I turn it off with the lighted rocker switch among the gang of switches on the cabinet face under the sink when finished with coffee in the morning. I do not like to have any high amp devices hot when changing power sources, it's hard on the transfer switches. My current unit has an adjustable heat setting and adjustments are necessary when driving at different altitudes, to keep the unit from boiling at higher elevations. It sputters and splashes if the water gets too hot.
