I've lost my low speed fan setting. Does anyone know where the speed control resistor bridge might be located and how to access it? I currently have my dash torn all apart and can't find it. I'm afraid it is attached to the blower motor and buried REALLY, REALLY deep in the center of the dash.

Had similar deal, while at FOT, they sent a chap up from the lower bldgs, he is he HVAC man, he found the loose connector on a relay that was accessed by removing the botton of the center compartment, then the BCM out then the smart wheel box left, that allowed access to the relay. He knew exactly where to go, repaired, secured the connevtion, no more issues, nice to have control of the HVAC settings. Also he showed me the switch setting for the a/c on & defrost at same time. All the way to defrost is not it.
Was charged 1hour, I am happy.
Thanks for the info. I didn't get the special HVAC treatment in June. They poked around in the dash and it started working but the next day, not. It has probably worked 4 times in the last 10K miles. I might try working the connections in the center console area just for a chance I might fix it.

Guess I was lucky as they brought a black feller who worked FT 20 years in the building shop on the HVAC dash, have to say he knew exactly where to go & what to do.
Rich, I have a 2001, same dash set up, and my blower motor squeaks on start up and after a few minutes settles down to where it is hard to hear. I would like to oil, or replace it, if I can get to it.
Can you tell me just how much "stuff" I need to remove to get to it, and or, do you have pictures of its location. It does sound like it comes from the middle of the dash.
Or, in your opinion, would it be better if I paid to have it done at FOT.

I don't have a clue how to get to the blower. The blower wheels (there are two) are where I'm pointing in the next picture (it's the biggest hole in the center of the dash). But to get to it, I think you have to REALLY start taking things apart. The blower is inside a sheet metal box that has about 50 things attached to the outside--like all the HVAC relays and vacuum control solenoids. It looks to me like you have to start taking apart the dash structure to access it. You can see the sheet metal box in the next 3 pictures. I'm also afraid that the speed control resistor bridge is on the blower so I think I'm going to have to live without a low speed fan setting. I think you're looking at a factory effort and a good part of a coach buck to replace the fan. But...I'm certainly no expert.

On mine they stripped the whole dash. Then made sure everything worked then started assembling. It was a multi day job.
Rich, thanks for the photos and your opinion. I think I will learn to live with the noise and pray it doesn't get worse. Looks like a major undertaking that I would have to have done at FOT.
Now, off to buy a lottery ticket.
