Title: Battery Boost Switch question
Post by: Dick S on August 07, 2013, 05:51:18 pm
I replaced the defective bulb in the switch. Now I can easily tell when the switch is ON. My question; if the switch is ON and the switch internal light is ON, is that proof the relay under the bed is in fact working?

Nope, it is just showing you turned it on, there is no feed back fron the contactor indicating it is closed.

Dick,
If you turn on the ignition switch and watch the volt meter you may see an increase when you engage the boost solenoid.

When I turn mine on in the past before this trickle charger the 12 volts being used went up on the monitor.

John,

What burned up, the switch or the solenoid?  For the switch, call FT Parts.  For the solenoid, search the forum.  You'll find many sources.

Although I installed the TriMetric 2025 mainly for the solar panel installation, it does have the capability of monitoring the start batteries (voltage only... much more for the house bank). So when I hit the BOOST switch I just go check the TriMetric and it will tell me quickly whether the chassis batteries are taking a charge.
