Title: '03 U320 with less than 25k miles
Post by: BamaFan on August 14, 2013, 09:01:26 pm
I am looking at this u320 with unusually low mileage. I know that it has sat unused a great deal of its life, but if everything else about it is ideal for us, what is the consensus on how and what to offer? If it was used for at least 5k miles in the past year, recently serviced properly, and an inspection shows it to be in good condition, how does one know what a fair offer is? A lot of ifs, I know. The asking price is $159k.

Royce,
I feel a little more info would help in answering info for you, Such as  36',38',40', 42'.  slides, tag axle, full body paint, age of tires  and any other thoughts ?

10 years old. Perhaps the owner was a professional and could only use once or twice a year ... how many owners? If it is inspected all good and it is what you are looking for within your price range I would not be too concerned with 25K only use. I would be happy if i could put 3000+ mil per year myself.

It is 40 ft w/tag and 2 slides. The Motorhome Finders blurb:

"This coach has been professionally kept and meticulously maintained in climate controlled garage. Has less than 25,000 original miles, one owner. Foretravel Chassis, Cummins ISM-450hp, Allison 4000, 6 speed, 10.0 kw PowerTech Diesel generator. Options include: mirrored lighted ceilings, in-motion satellite with all flat screen TVs, 8 brand new tires, all new batteries, washer/dryer, Bose audio system. No pets, no smoking. No accidents - best 2003 model available."

I have seen a few live in non driven coaches.  Look for wear items.

This unit has 8 new tires, all new batteries, if I were looking at this coach,I would get the vin number, call FT and see if there were any front or rear cap issues, if that checks out go look at the coach and make them an offer.

That coach has the same floor plan as mine even though it is a tag.  Great floor plan.  If it was closer would look at it seriously.  Appears to be too good to be true if you can buy cheaper to ensure all the bells and whistles still function properly.  Gives you room to repair hidden items or get a warranty.
Good luck DAN

Dan,

How can you tell what floorplan it has? It's not mentioned in the ad.

Found the coach for sell via google.  Had to be same coach and the pictures show the same floor plan as mine and it showed a tv upgrade. Appears to be a nice coach and was stored as good as you can store one.  DAN

Dan,

Does that floorplan have a door on the toilet, an absolute requirement for us.

Thx,
Royce

Bama, go to the Barry Beams site and look up a 2003 U320 AGDS and it will show you the floor plan, and yes it does show a door on the potty. ^.^d

Even the walk-through bath floorplans have pocket doors at either end of the bathroom - that's the way our coach is set up, which makes for a nice, roomy, private bath area.  I can't say I've ever seen a version where you couldn't readily and easily close doors to get privacy.

After looking at the floorplan on a screen larger than my iPad I can see the detail that you guys are seeing. A shortcoming of the iPad I guess. Thx.
Title: '03 U320 with 61k miles.

Just today we toured an '03 42' U320, with 61k miles here at FOT.  They are asking a little more at $175k, but it's on consignment so who knows.  We really liked it, but we aren't in the market for a new coach.  Just wanted you to know it's out there.

I certainly didn't inspect it, but it seemed in good condition, and the carpets were just steam cleaned today.  Definitely has a private toilet.  :D

They have another 03 U320 but we didn't like that one as much.  I think it's 38' which doesn't suit out needs.

I've been looking at the U320 42' coach at FOT also. At this point we're still trying to learn about the features, options, and floorplans of the models. We'll be heading out to Nac in a few weeks to do some more hands-on investigation. Thanks for all the help.
