I'm currently in Oregon heading south to Ruidoso, NM and I'm having issues with smoke on my route. My wife cannot take the smoke and it looks like I'm getting surrounded with fire/smoke. My plan was to visit Crater Lake and the Redwoods... :( but, that does not look to be possible because of the smoke. I was planning to visit Sequoia NP for a one or two day visit then continue down California over to Arizona for a quick view of the South Rim then down to Ruidoso. The air quality maps looks like California is pretty bad quality and then if I drove through Reno it is bad too. Any current information from travelers would be appreciated.
Thanks,
We are currently just north of San Francisco and the air is wonderful. Sunny with a sea breeze. How does the 101 look for you, through the coast redwoods?
I don't see any smoke here in the SF Bay Area.

I wish for a higher resolution map, but from AirNow, it appears the coast is clear. You can take the 101 as far south as needed, then find a clear path to cut east.
