With as many older FT's that are out there running, does anyone know of a "wrecking yard" for FT's?? That may sound a little sacrilegious to those that restore the old ones, but it would be good to know of places where used parts may be obtained. Thank you ---- Fritz
Colaw's in the Joplin area is an RV salvage yard.
I stopped and asked about Foretravel parts. They told me so very few were built and most seem to be on the road for ever. Said they see a rare Foretravel every year or so. Any other brand, he said, we get them all the time. They did have some parts that would work, as I saw horns and mirrors, and misc non Foretravel OEM parts.
There is a yard in Kentucky that has 3 FT's 95, 97 & 98 I believe. I think they may have been picked pretty clean. Just depends on what you are looking for.

Sounds alot like trying to get parts for an old Packard or Studebaker or Graham or one of those kind. I have a windshield that is starting to get cloudy in the corners and I'm just wondering what it may take to replace it if and when. Thanks for the info. ---- Fritz
I just had both windshields replaced on my '91 (it's 96" wide) and my insurance company didn't have any problems finding them.
John ---- That's good to know, thank you ---- Fritz
Perhaps a distinction needs to be made between Foretravel-specific parts (parts that are unique to a Foretravel) and other parts. For example, the appliances in a Foretravel are the same ones that are in many other brands. Finding those parts ought to be pretty easy. Something that Foretravel either made themselves or had made specifically for them might be another story. About all one can do then is ask around.
I believe that FT did a very good job sourcing components. So far, I've been able to find OEM things as needed. I have had to have an item shipped from FL to CA, but I got the correct piece. As FT is still in business, we can talk with the factory and get help there too.
