Title: Repair Crashed Window Frame on 1993 Foretravel 36 West VT
Post by: 93 unihome on August 24, 2013, 02:21:11 pm
Hi

I have just started camping with our motorhome 1993 Foretravel Unihome 225 and had an unexpected tree encounter that crashed in the window frame on the rear driver side [Bedroom Window] into the fiberglass wall

I have no idea where to start. Any recommendation for a good RV service in VT NY State area?

I think if I could get the stuck window out I could push back the frame and then get new windows. I will be happy to buy new frame if need be. We realy like the Foretravel and would like to keep it for a while

Do you have fiberglass/wall damage? New windows are easy. Measure and call Peninsula Glass. Decide if you want dual pane or single pane. They will crate and ship. Shipping will probably cost 2/3 the window cost...

I would always replace with dual pane, even if I was only doing 1 or 2...

Thanks a lot Dave

I have a slight fiberglass damage but I can not get the glass out.  It is stuck.  If I could I would cut the glass out and pop the frame back in and put some cocking.  I just can not get the glass out.

I guess if I will have to do it my self I will get a glass cutter and cut the glass out and pop the frame back in then replace the glass.  Just wondered if there is a better way.

Thanks again,

Ted

Ted,

Are you able to remove the whole window frame/glass and all?

That way you could take it to a glass shop fairly inexpensively.

Should be able to pop out the vinyl molding (on inside window frame) that conceals the square head #2 screws that hold the inner frame to the outer frame.

You can not cut that glass as it is tempered glass and it will shatter into many small pieces. As Brett said, remove the entire window frame from the coach.

Here's a photo of what the setup is on a 320. The mess was representative of some work we had done by RV Glass Solutions, btw.
