Al, Your engine serial number should be located on the housing at the right rear of the engine.  There is a metal housing that the injector pump is bolted to, on top of this housing is a serial number plate.
Check here under identifying the engine:
B Series Cummins | AERA Engine Builders Association (http://www.aera.org/engine-professional/b-series-cummins/)
Good luck

I did read that on AERA sometime ago and armed with my flash light and camera i went under the bed ... I can not find it :'(  I am going to have a friend take a look at it too. So here is the interesting thing i found a number on a faded paper from the original warranty Registration. With that number from the Cummins Quickserve we get a VIN number that does not match my U225 VIN number. FOT gave me a ESN that was one digit off from what i found with that serial number i don't get any VIN number. So something somewhere is not right ... maybe database ... maybe I have a rebuild engine ... My hope is to get the serial number of off the engine and make sure what it is ... I'll figure it out.

Al,after talking to my diesel buddy, he said to look on the right side of the block above the oil cooler,it can also be on the gear cover, not on the top but down on the side.
