Title: Question about steps
Post by: Bob & Vicki on September 02, 2013, 07:59:11 pm
We are presently in Muskegon, MI, and on a level concrete slab. We leveled up, and now our bottom step is 1/4 inch above the concrete. How do we raise the RV and stay level? Is this OK to leave so low? We're newbies  to FT and have never had air leveling before.

Did you by any chance dump before you leveled?  I've done this on occasion to lower the steps.  This is done by hitting the AIR button once and then DUMP.  After the coach is lowered enough, I hit EMERGENCY STOP and then hit the AIR button again but this time twice and the coach will then level, but starting at the lowered position.

If it is too low, you could do the opposite and hit RAISE instead of dump.  Then level again when you think things are raised enough.

Hope I got this right.  We rarely dump before leveling.  Usually just hit AIR twice and that is it.

Start engine get air pressure, with HWH panel press all raise button to raise up coach to maximum height. Then level coach from full up, which will lower to level. This will give you a higher step up. Some like to do the opposite to have the coach low as possible, by pressing all down button, then level up from there.

Leaving step just above concrete, if coach auto levels down or if coach rocks on air bags, step could bottom on concrete and get damaged. If a problem, may want to relocate coach further away from concrete.

Thanks for the replies. We got the step in without a problem. Currently at Niagra Falls.
