Just curious what folks have used as a replacement for the 12v brass and half rounded clear plastics light fixtures from the 02-03 era coaches. We would like to replace ours but there is not much room between the mirror and the light fixture.
Anybody change theirs out yet?
I remember this has been discussed before. One member even made his own. Suggest a search on the topic.

Tom... I remember only one post, last year, from Jan & Richard, who did a mod of their bathroom and bedroom light fixtures in the process of converting them to LEDs. It was beautifully done... matching walnut. Jan & Richard based their mod on one (same thread) done by John Haygarth... very similar and very nice, too!
Personally, I like the half-round fixture... best vanity/makeup light ever (I'm blind as the proverbial bat without my glasses, and the brightness and position of the vanity light is perfect). But I have to admit, Jan & Richard's mod is very nice! ^.^d

Pat, do you have a "half round" fixture in LED and if so please post. If not what do you want and maybe I can make one up for you (drawing)

Hey, John... thanks for the offer! However, it's Tom & Bill who are wanting to replace theirs... I was merely helping with the search function :D since I remembered seeing your and Jan & Richard's handiwork!
Our half-round fixture is not LED, FYI.... but as I mentioned, I'm happy with the bright halogens at the moment, since we've only selectively replaced some of LEDs at the present time.
Thanks again for the offer!
Pat sorry I did not read posting correct. So will someone post a picture of this fixture so I can see the best way to do it --should one want to convert it to LED
John
Certainly! Here they are:
Ours are a little different than Patricia's in that they are shorter and mount above the cabinets. I think ours are what Tom has as both our floor plans have the open bathroom.
There used to be two more of these fixtures around a corner cabinet/dressing table but we have removed those as we are currently making this cabinet into a more usable cabinet.
Unlike Tom, I like the fixtures and don't really want to replace them.
Unlike Patricia, however, ours, I guess because they are shorter or maybe because they are mounted above the cabinets, don't give me enough light to see to put on makeup, etc. I need a lot more light than these give out. I think part of the problem is they sort of cast a downward shadow. Also, they only have two bulbs where Patricia's have three.
I would like to increase the light so any help would be appreciated.
However, this is WAY DOWN our priority list as this new-to-us 2003 is presenting Jim with enough challenges to keep him busy for the foreseeable future. :(
We have the vanity ones that Pat has and the sink ones that you have and we replaced the bulbs with LED's which eliminated a lot of heat and gives plenty of light and the wife is happy. It has been awhile since I replaced them so I don't remember where I got them.
If you run across where you got them and what they are, please post. They look like just the thing. I know nothing about the necessary properties of an LED light bulb to replace the ones in the fixture. However, I do know how to order things online so I wouldn't have to bother Jim (he's got enough to do right now) to get this little job done if I knew what to order. :)
We've recently replaced our Vanity Lites with these: Amazon.com: LED 12V White Omni Bulb BA15S Clear Cover: Home Improvement (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007M48PH2/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i01?ie=UTF8&tag=foreforums-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=390957)
These bulbs are small, but put out great light. They look to be about the size of the ones in Barry's pictures.
Thanks to Roger (Home2fromHastings) for the links and research.
Good Luck, Dave A
