My IR monitor mounted in the front left upper cabinet, has stopped working, if I unhook it, and turn back on, it works for a while then goes dead, hoping for ideas, or replace it ??
Replace with what ?
Anything special about them ?
Thanks
We had a similar problem this summer. Ended up buying new emitters (now two per plug) through Amazon. It works again! And the new emitters have a red LED that tells you when they are on and transmitting. Big improvement.
I changed mine to a rf setup
Dave... here are the emitters George references ($18 and free shipping for orders >$25 or Prime membership):
Amazon.com : Xantech 286D Blink-IR Dual Designer Emitter : Electronics (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B002RCXINK/ref=pe_385040_30332190_pe_175190_21431760_M3T1_ST1_dp_1)
Dave, Are you referring to the Xantech 490-00 - Micro Link Brass. Xantech 490 00 Micro Link Brass | eBay (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Xantech-490-00-Micro-Link-Brass-/120632831810)
Many thanks for the info, now I have a plan of attack. No want to change to the RF setup, that would require different controller as the Directv controller does not provide RF output as far as I know. Did have a Dish system years ago that was RF, but don't think they offer that now either. Hell who knows.
Many thanks folks
Dave M
@Dave My Dish Hopper uses both IR and RF you can choose one or the other or both.
see ya
ken
All DirecTV HD receivers have rf capability. You need to set the receiver to rf AND you have to have the rf remote. If you don't have the HD receiver, DirecTV will upgrade yours for free.
Yes, on DirecTV hit the MENU button, then go to setup, then remote.
Dave my DTV box had to be set for rf and the controller had to be dual ir and rf. bought a couple extra for the house that do rf too. Easy fix.
The Direct TV RF controller I have is better than the IR one. The buttons are back lit and you push a button on the side to turn this function on. Took like 3 minutes to change over the DVR and program the TV too. I recently bought an HDMI over wireless setup (Amazon.com: IOGEAR GW3DHDKIT Wireless 3D Digital Kit with Full HD 1080P and 5.1 (http://www.amazon.com/IOGEAR-GW3DHDKIT-Wireless-Digital-Channel/dp/B00630WKGI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1379254538&sr=8-1&keywords=iogear+wireless+hdmi+transmitter+and+receiver)) to split the bedroom DVR signal and send it to a 32" TV in the den (the TV I use in the RV when we travel). I control the DVR from the den, through 3 walls no issue.
RC65RBX - costs 20-27.00 on Amazon (Amazon.com: NEW DIRECTV REMOTE RC65RBX HD/DVR RF BACKLIGHT + 2AA BATTERIES (http://www.amazon.com/DIRECTV-RC65RBX-BACKLIGHT-BATTERIES-RECEIVERS/dp/B00CTV73NA)).
OK, The info has been received, not willing to pay $120.00 for equipment + $10.00 a month for the RF. So the OLD CRAPPY :o IR will be replaced/repaired.
The Directv RV tel number is now dead, instead they say use 800-531-5000 that gets you the football adder and later you can get a real person with the above $$$ info.
Very easy choice, having the Samsung 32" LED Smart TV, can not tell the difference between the HD and non HD.
Amen
Wow! How old is your Direct TV receiver? Even my Sony SAT-A1 (circa 1994) was RF capable! It had a big remote antenna and a monster remote...
Yea, it is not too old, maybe two weeks, it is not HD not a reorder, just the plain Diectv Rx.
Has no choice for IR or RF In any menu. The house unit is the non HD DVR, it does have the chouce, not this unit in the coach.
