Got my own HWH problem to ask about.
My passenger side front air bags don't seem to be responding for air. I have had the air system bleed out for a few weeks while I was working on the rear brakes.
They are very slow to fill and then, not all the way. they dump ok. The drivers side is better, but seems to be getting worse.
The rears work OK. I don't see any fast loss of air pressure when the coach sits, engine off.
The passenger side front will eventually fill if I do it manually, but does not seem to respond to the auto level command.
Can somebody steer me in the right direction?
Thanks!
If all else is working rear and left front, sounds like the R/F raise solenoid is not opening all the way. As you can manually force it up slowly says the electric controls are working. You can take the valves apart and clean them. You front HWH valve pack should on the D/S above the front axle. Have DW push the RF up button to find the right sol.
You use the same solenoid to raise the front in auto or manual.
How fast does it go up in the travel mode? That uses a different solenoid. If it is also slow in the travel mode you may have a problem with the air pressure regulator for the front system.
Thanks for the help.
I will check it again, but i seem to recall hearing the soliniods click when i hit the control buttons.
Where would locate the front regulator?
My regulator was in the middle of the coach just behind the generator compartment. It will look like the regulators behind the entry step box.
The air pressure regulator for the front airbags on mine is located right behind the front air tanks, needs to be set at 60 PSI. If it is very much lower the front bags will be slow to raise or not at all. Just a note if you think that is the problem Home Depot has some in the tool department (air compressor regulator about $20-25.00) that will work, they are not as good as the original ones but they work and the Depot is close.
I have not tried it in travel mode. I still have the wood safety blocks in place from the brake work. I noticed the problem when I tried to raise it to remove the blocks. I have been having a problem raising the right front every time I go to install the wood safety blocks. The last time I just used 2 stacked 4x4s on there side because I could not fit the 9" standing length between the frame .
I did see the valves and gauges you described when I was under there adjusting the front brakes.
I will crawl under there and check the valves and gauges. It seemed that all the gauges showed air pressure but I didn't check at the time to see how much.
Getting tired of all the time crawling around under the the RV, starting to develop scales and a forked tongue and looking for a warm rock to lay on. Getting too old for this stuff!
On mine there are 3 regulators 2 over by the step are for the step and the inside step cover all should be set at 60lbs.
If your problem is isolated to the right front it's likely the right front raise solenoid, could be the coil getting weak or the valve not opening all the way. As I said you can take the valve apart and clean it, also all of them are the same you might try swapping the right front with the raise or dump to see if it is defective. Be carefull I had a RF solenoid fail and caused a windshield to crack the coach was sitting under the shed at the house. I know the feeling like a snake deal, old motorhome sure turn into a hobby.
