Title: MCD Blinds
Post by: Rick & Colleen on September 24, 2013, 02:11:59 pm
We are thinking of installing MCD Blinds throughout the coach.  We understand the front windshield must be powered.  We were wondering about the pros or cons of powering all the other blinds.

We have the front MCD powered and love them.  We had the manual ones put in our bedroom and they are working great- very easy to use.

I think it is a matter of taste and budget because they all work great.

Best of luck with whatever decision you make.

I do not have direct experience with power on the side blinds but after we put in the manual I was told that that was the wise choice, just too many motors and such to do all the side ones.  I have seen electric though in some various new coaches, not sure of the brands.

We recently added these after seeing them in the coach owned by Dave Katsuki and Nancy Elkins.

Hope this helps.

By the way, this is a pretty good expense but after two months in the coach on a trip we came to think it a worthy expense.  As for the windshield, for us that about essential.

Cheers, Mike

We have MCD all around - powered in front and manual on the others.  It's personal preference, but here are our reasons for choosing manual for the other windows

1)  Simpler product
2)  Much easier installation (we installed them ourselves)
3)  Much lower cost (no expense for 2 motors per window, remotes.  Plus would be much lower installation cost if you aren't doing it yourself)
4)  No remotes to lose (plus the remotes at the time we did the blinds were somewhat unattractive and cheap-ish looking)

We have MCD blinds - powered in the front and manual elsewhere.  Our reasoning was primarily cost, simple operation and less to go wrong.
We are very happy with our blinds but did notice quite a difference in soundproofing, and some on heat transfer, between the old cloth blinds and the new shades.

Which were better?

The old cloth blinds were quite a bit better for sound insulation and somewhat better for heat retention.
All in all, though, we are quite happy with the upgrade (we'll just have to keep the Bose volume a little lower when we have neighbors :) ).
