Title: geoff & Pats new to them GV
Post by: John Haygarth on September 25, 2013, 01:21:38 am
Posting this item for my Brother and S In law as he is super busy. As you may know we picked up Ed and Evelyn's 94 GV and drove it home from NJ a few weeks ago. I did a few mods and fixes and here are some pictures of the inside now. Tile work and painted walls etc etc. they really like it and Ed & Evelyn have been so good to them, super nice people.

I never would have thought about painting the walls but it looks great. Really brightens it up. Nice job.

I agree about the paint, but credit goes to Pat for coming up with the idea in the livingroom. They picked a Martha Stewart design/finish which gives it a kind of textured look, instead of the regular smooth finish. I removed all the pictures and a mirror that Ed and Evelyn had on walls as geoff and Pat wanted to personalize it. There was some damage getting things off so I had some repairs to do then I washed it with TSP and smooth sanded all walls. A few coats of primer then the base coat. The top coat was brushed on in a criss cross fashion and it does look good, quite a change and brighter. I was a little sorry to see the wood go but it needed to be fixed and this was the answer. Geoff is going to do the bedroom when time allows. I removed all the furniture so he could shampoo all carpeting and took off the Corian coutertop on small cabinet and cut it down to just hang over this cabinet, like I did on ours. It gives a more roomy feeling. I took off the mirrors in kitchen and bathroom wall and tiled it in a white 3x6 and glass accent strip (Picked by them of course) and that helped brighten it up. Many little things done and more in the future i think.

A truly remarkable job, John... just beautiful!

I went back to see the "before" pictures - and the transformation is amazing.  It's a lovely coach - both before and after.  For those who are curious, here's the link when Gary Omel posted pictures for Ed and Evelyn:  Geoff H's soon-to-be new coach (split from One of a kind custom painted U 240) (http://www.foreforums.com/index.php?topic=17651)

yes it was. Due to it being wood stain and sealed I had to make sure the colour would not bleed thru.
It does make a big change if you see it in real life and geoffs pics do a good job of that.
Ruth and I are as I said in Calif now for a few weeks and when we get home I will be digging a pit (as Peirce has) so I can work on the underneath of both of our coaches. Mine has air leak issues I cannot fix liying down so hope to get all fixed pretty quick. There are many changes that can be done to these machines as we all know and now Ruth wants me to change the kitchen tiling I did a while back (she said she has never really liked them!!) so we will pick some up while we are down here. The fridge/pantry slide I did now now just looks like it was original factory as the wood has mellowed perfectly to match all others. Please book early for your BC division of Foretravel mods as we are filling up fast--he he.
