After finding the great results from removing the origional refrig, and installing the Samsung home style, not needing the LP Gas as no use of the two burner stove top unit, I removed the LP tank and built a mounting stand to capture the 4th 8D Gel Battery, the origional 3 8D batteries do great, so hope the 4th is that much better.
There is room to turn the rack and add the 2nd battery, I feel that 5 8D batteries is over the top, not needed.
The opening is 22" X 23"
The Charger / inverter is mounted in the compartment right next to this battery, short cable run.
Now if you had solar Dave you would be set up right. You can then fire your generator mechanic??
John H
Did you go electric cooktop, or just giving up on the stove altogether?
Why not Two 8D their? :-)
Aren't you afraid a bad cell in one of the batteries will kill all of them if they're wired in parallel? That just happened to me and I'm kinda paranoid about it happening again. I can't imagine losing 5 batteries at once. Losing a pair of 8D batteries is bad enough... just saying
I am going to do that soon too. Putting in an induction stove adn pulling the propane. Dave just beat me to it.
Worried about the battery setup, NOPE, more concerned of meeting myself in the here after. :o
My goodness Dave that is a real scary thought.
Talking about meeting yourself, we are hoping to get to Virginia and see Ruth's cousin who has just moved into another place close to their old one in Middleburg (which we visited 2 yrs ago) and now they are in a 400 acre farm. So next spring will do a trip there and then P Edward Island and Nova Scotia again. Hope to meet you and anyone else on the route.

John,
Yes, Middleburg is a classy area of Va, have three customers in that area, mostly the high rollers whom I appreciate.
Looking forward to your trip thru Virginia in the spring, keep in touch.
Hope you liked those rivets, never seen them before, but look and act serious.
Dave lives by the motto, improvise, adapt and over come.
John, let me know too. Middleburg is close to me too.
How will you route the battery cables? Do you have any concerns about unequal length cables causing the batteries in the same bank to discharge unevenly?
Ha! You have forgotten more about these things than I will ever know.
I asked the question because of an article I read about very small differences in voltage (mostly from the resistance created by different length interconnecting battery cables) making a large difference in the current provided by the individual batteries in a battery bank. Here is the article. SmartGauge Electronics - Interconnecting multiple batteries to form one larger (http://www.smartgauge.co.uk/batt_con.html). It provides several examples of ways to interconnect the balance the draw.
Have you removed the lp furnaces and how do you heat below 40 degrees? gam
Bob, you made me happy when I read that link as that is exactly the way I have connected my 3 Lifelines up (Item 3) and I am happy with the figures (balance). I have the feed lines off each going to a Buss bar (neg and pos) AND the solar charger line going to the bar too (except when motor is running I use only solar for charge)
I did not have this info before but figured it had to be better than the original way.

After talking with my battery sales engineers this AM, they agree on the "Perfect" setup, howsomever in the real world, where few things are "Perfect", the method I plan to use is very safe & workable.
The 4th 8G8D is installed and working fine, used 8' 2/0 for the Pos term to the Bat side of the 350 A fuse, 5' 2/0 Neg to Neg on bottom of the Prosign.
All Tyraped up nice & purty. ;D
Anyone looking for a spare LP Gas tank, 17 gal I think ?
