Title: House Battery replacement sourcing -
Post by: Carol & Scott on October 14, 2013, 01:03:32 pm
Sorry that this post is redundant.  Used search and sifted through many pages couldn't find the info I was looking for.

Looking for sourcing for 2 -  Deka/MK 8a8d AGMs.  Called the Hydraulic place in Nac. - $573.17 + core charge.  Advance battery in Houston -$ 563.20 after 50.00 core charge.

I thought I recalled that there was other web based sources that were priced well.  Have looked on the web alot but am not finding these batteries under $560.00.

Will be using the 2 Dekas and a Trimetric -

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Thanks - :D

Since you mention Texas (I know, it's a big state, but...)

House Batteries (http://www.foreforums.com/index.php?topic=18661.msg128882#msg128882)

Danny's RV in Denton, TX was $506 apiece, $3 per for disposal fee and they keep the cores.  $15 per battery to install back in May of this year.

East Penn  in Carrollton, TX would sell direct for $519 apiece at the time and a $36/per core credit so net $483 per battery but you have to pick up/return cores at their facility.

This for Deka Intimidator 8A8D AGMs.

Looks like they are both in the Dallas/Fort Worth area - We will be in Houston.

Have a great day.

 Michelle,
That is what I paid locally, but it was over a year ago.  And I know no one would want to come up to Olean NY to the shop I got them from.  And I had to wait a week for them to come in.

I looked up a Houston zip code and the Dallas location for the Deka is the closest stocking warehouse.  Maybe worth a drive by to see us in north TX since you are just enjoying the miles in your new coach this year.  Or run up with the old ones, exchange for the new ones.  But do realize they weigh about 160# each.  My guy used his forklift to do mine.

But I sometimes have no sense of mileage.  We have driven down for the day to attend a lunch, funeral, wake/dinner and then home.  Just 500 miles.  Another time we drove to San Antonio for lunch and an early dinner with some friends there from Chicago.  Only at dinner did they realize how far Ft. Worth was from their hotel.  About 600 miles that day.  They had only looked at the TX map, not done any math.

Most people don't realize that I-10 from the east side of Texas to the west is 879 miles.
Just a good days drive.  HaHaHa

I have talked to the Dallas stocking warehouse and there is no financial benefit to go there.

Too bad that you are too far away, I bought three 8ds for 1200 bucks this spring at battery mart. I offered to bring a few over to MOT my next trip as it is200 bucks cheaper than they can source.

Thanks for your input.  Will have to think about these options.
