Title: Batteries
Post by: sawdust316 on October 16, 2013, 08:02:51 am
Good Morning Everyone:

Was on the FOT site yesterday and they now have a 2003 Designer coach for sale. Very nice. In going through the photos I noticed the batteries. I zoomed in to check them out. They are "Northstar" batteries. Very narrow and tall.

Anyone know anything about these. The look very compact.

Thanks
Norm

That's got to be what originally was GregoryS's coach.  Some history and discussion on his selection of Northstar can be found in these threads (just search the forum for Northstar and you'll find a few additional short threads)

Thanks Michelle.

Just thought these battries looked pretty good, weight and output. Thought I could put 4 as opposed to 2 in the battery compartment. Gonna have to think about this a little more.

BTW, did you ever get to Bears One Stop for those steaks?

Had a nice conversation with Jeremy @ Northstar Batteries. sms-8dk - Are made by them in Springfield, MO. -  Interesting - 185# assembled.  Each AGM battery is shipped in 4 packages:  3 cells and a bussbar to connect them and a cap to hold them together.  NorthStar Ultra High Performance Batteries - 99.9% Pure Lead AGM Plate (http://www.northstarsitetel.com/northstar/engine/batteries.php) .  About 1 coach buck each.  3 year total warranty.  Of course he says that their battery is the best on the market as it has the "highest amp draw reserve capacity @ 25ah".  Gonna have to think about this one.

Hope you meant 250 amp draw. If I had the space I would go with six 6V batteries in series parallel. Just my own preference and more amp draw than 8D's.

I have been through the Northstar plant we are in the same industrial park.  They have two plants in Springfield.  The plant is 8 to 10 years old very clean and a very efficient productiion line.  They have a great reputation in the phone industry.

Wing bucks make coach bucks look like small change.  Just wait till you get an AD on your freshly installed Lycoming or Continental...."remove crankshaft, inspect and replace if galling is present".  Guess who pays?
