Title: Transmission shifting selector
Post by: Jim Busby on October 28, 2013, 11:22:50 am
A fellow fore traveler here at Foretravel of Texas has a problem with his selector and can't properly push the buttons. Can anyone tell him where he can get it repaired? He tried to join the forum but it licked him out and said he was a registered spammer. Jim his wife's email is wanderlust4us@hotmail.com

I had that problem at one time and found that if you warm the panel up with a hair dryer first then try it may now be possible to push the silicone buttons. There have been a few comments on this issue before. I took the panel apart as well to clean the carbon contact points to help. Bought a spare panel but never had to install it as my problem was obviously related to warmth and once soft it worked.

I agree with taking the shift pad face apart and cleaning the contacts, it worked for me. The job is fairly simple and can be done in about 30-60 minutes with a screw driver and a spray can of electronic cleaner.

Had the same issue on a 95 U320. I agree with Bob Hall. Taking the shifter head apart and cleaning the contacts fixed it like new. Very easy to do.
