I wanted to let everyone know that the section of IH35 from Salado to Hillsborough in North Central Texas (includes Temple and Waco) is the longest construction project in the country. It is over 60 miles long with new bridges, access roads, etc. and is horrible to drive on. Concrete barriers on both sides with NO shoulder. Local news just reported and 9 car pile up north of Temple. The cars were stacked cord wood.
So, if your travel plans have you going through this section, you may want to "re-calculate" your route.
Be safe!
It just makes me want to go find a nice State or Fed two lane and go slower. Of course it would be faster than being trapped on an Interstate with limited opportunity to get off.
I was impressed with the State Hwys in TX. We can't really recall any Interstate that impressed us. Oh, wait, Susan said maybe in Nebraska but not in Omaha.
Interstates when we have to. Otherwise, other ways.

Ya gotta laugh, where we live, two cars at a stop sign is a traffic jam :o
And I 35E from Lewisville to the north rejoin at 380 in Denton is going to be a mess for years, starting now, as they begin the expansion project there.
"Entering north Texas, please seek alternate routes".
Plan to go to Kerrville for Thanksgiving at Buckhorn RV Resort. Tks for the heaeads up. Will try to take Hwy 21 instead of I-35. This would take me into San Marcos then down I-35 to New Braunfels then 46 over to I-10 Boerne and up to Kerrville. I assume I-35 will be OK between San Marcos and New Braunfels. DAN
Asked my bro about that trip....reply was "DrI've 10 days ago. Aus-Dal. SMOOTH sailin. Timin my friend. Timin
We always time cities (if possible) for Sat or Sun early AM....or we go around-sometimes up to a 100 miles.
Have seen some wonderful places that way...
Dave, just like here but I say 3 cars is a traffic jam.

Carol/Jeff--you are correct I will drive 100 miles out of the way to avoid Austin close to 5 pm week days. Last time took me two hours in heavy traffic/stop and go to get through there. DAN
I 35 between San Antonio and Waco is bad on a good day without construction. I made the trip hundreds of times in a truck and I swear to goodness I would run the 2 lanes if I were to go back. Just to crowded and aggressive type driving for me. Not knocking Texas... just the stretch of road mentioned.
