Title: HWH and Slideout creep

I've had this problem for a while and, thanks to the great folks at HWH, I think I'm headed to the solution.  The slide, when out, usually starts to creep back in a bit at the rear, making me fear that stress is being applied to the bladder.  About an inch or two overnight...sometimes faster, sometimes seems slower.

HWH provided an instruction sheet that describes the procedure to use an "Isolation kit" to resolve what is causing the creeping.  The procedure seems somewhat simple and the kit isn't expensive (compared to our usual costs).

Hopefully, this will lead to a final fix.  But the thing I want to note is that when I emailed them, Joe Portelli was very quick to respond and the one word that really stuck out was in the sentence:  "So if I were you I would leave the room in till we figure out the issue with the creeping."  WE.  Wow.  He is taking some ownership of MY problem on an 11 year old coach.  That is a great company attitude to have.

Since they have a document and a Isolation Kit, I think this may be more common than I thought.  So I am attaching the instruction sheet.  PM me if you want more info.

Being stupid, I would assume he was refering to what he would do, NOT telling you that he is ACCEPTING 100% liability for what ever could happen.

No, not at all.  Neither of those extremes.  You completely misunderstood my post.

I was expressing my pleasure that he has twice responded to me so far with some very detailed help, guidance and instructions, genuinely seeming to be concerned and desirous of helping me.  I was quite pleased that he committed to helping ME do whatever I need to do to get MY problem solved.  That goes beyond the usual "I'll answer your questions" or "Send $29.95 and I'll send you some instructions" that many businesses seem to have these days.

Of course it is MY issue, not his, and there is no issue of transferring any "liability" to him for helping me.  My post was just a compliment to him and HWH.

Great, my experience with HWH at their Moscow Iowa plant has been very good.
Your comment "He is taking some ownership of MY problem on an 11 year old coach".  was the basis of my thought knowing how things can change in some minds to think of total liability from a simple comment.

We had the same problem slide creeping in after being out for awhile. Just make sure that of what type of slide mechanism you are talking about.  FOT changed out the in and out solenoid three times.  Went to HWH in May they said they changed out a solenoid, there is also a small plastic check valve that screws into the aluminum block ,before the main solenoid, with a small O ring on it. If it is put in slightly wrong then when the solenoid is screwed in, the solenoid may mess up or cut the O ring. If technician is not very careful putting in the solenoid. At least that is what they told us at HWH on our second trip in Sept. Which seems to have fixed the problem finally.

Thanks, Ellen.  RnR changed one of the solenoids in June, and what they did really had no effect on what had been happening.  So maybe they solved it but re-created a new, similar issue at the same time?  We thought it was fixed and left as I did not have time to remain at RnR to be positive it was fixed.  I'm sure they could have tested further and found the issue.  I should note that HWH did speak highly of RnR, and Luke, the FT tech there, was very confidence-inspiring...but awfully busy.  I had already been parked there for 3 days before they could get to me, despite having an appointment.

HWH said this test procedure with the isolation kit should identify the culprit area...and I'll be sure to check the O-ring before I replace a solenoid.  That would be a nice fix..only to have to replace an O-ring!  I'm waiting to get the Isolation Kit.  I know this 2002 uses the "Train" system, as was only used for that one year...but I think the problem isn't limited to the trains.
