Title: Winterizing refrigerator with icemaker
Post by: marvinj31 on November 10, 2013, 05:07:29 pm
I live in Missouri and winterize my 2002 U270 by blowing out the lines with compressed air and add antifreeze in the drains and toilet. The manual says I should have a professional winterize my refrigerator which has an icemaker. Is it necessary or is there an easier way?

Marvin, Be sure to drain water from the icemaker line in rear of reefer.  Disconnect at solenoid and drain from there, leave it disconnected til next trip.
Be sure to remove cartridge from water filter also.

I just used to take the front cover off the ice maker and turn the gear a little bit with a pliers. The ice maker will cycle and I did it till pink stuff showed up.

Oh and there is a plug for the water filter you put in when you remove the filter.

We live in Camdenton. The reason I ask the question is that the manual for the refrigerator gives a long list of steps to winterize the icemaker and says it should be done by a professional technician.
