Title: Suzki grand vitara
Post by: rbark on November 16, 2013, 07:54:55 pm
Looking at a 2007 4x4 automatic for our toad. Any restrictions such as speed or distance with one of these?

  Thanks in advance, Richard B

Richard...  I gotta ask... have you ridden in a Suzuki Grand Vitara before... for any distance, that is?

The reason for my question is that every summer we visit friends in the Tri-Cities of Washington state (SE corner) and travel around the area with them.  As "guests" in the back seat we can tell you that George (6') and I (5' 3.5") are VERY uncomfortable as passengers.  It's a very stiff ride, kind-of "jerky"... hard to describe.  I just know that every time we go out to dinner, or drive to Walla Walla to tour a winery or two... we return, whispering to ourselves that we would never buy one!

Perhaps the front seats (driver and passenger) are vastly different, but I simply wanted to give you a "back seat" perspective! :))

Patricia, you are just too funny!! No we haven't ever been in one of those cars, driving or otherwise.
I know for a fact I'll never be in the back seat of one, and neither will Betty, but I'd hate to subject someone else to the agonies of the back seats of one of those, especially if we were to run across you and George sometime and wanted to share a ride to some place.
Oh well, I guess our quest continues!
  Thanks for your input Patricia.

Richard...  hey, no problem... if the Grand Vitara is great deal - and we run across you and Betty, WE'LL drive (our CRV, that is!).  :P :P

Rear seats can be notoriously awful!  The only tow car we ever had that was comfortable in the rear seat was the GMC Terrain.  AWD, not 4WD ... although Jeff liked to think it could go where he wanted it to!  And, to be fair, it actually did!

Yup, only got the GMC Terrain stuck in a snow drift twice....after spending a considerable amount of time getting it out the first time...yup, Jeffy not the sharpest tack in the pack...I tried it again...Took even longer to get it out the second time...See what my DW has to put up with?

Richard, I started a thread a couple weeks ago about a Jeep toad. There was considerable discussion there about some other options, so you might find some good help there. If you want decent back seat space you will need to go with a larger vehicle. Our 2005 Mountaineer didn't have the leg room that the 2004 Town Car did, but it was still good enough for adults. The Ford Explorer is the same vehicle as the Mountaineer, and someone said that they come with true 4WD (the Mountaineer was AWD).

Thank you all for your responses. Think we will just keep using the MDX for now. It has great back seats!!
