Title: BRA
Post by: Gary Bouland (RIP) on December 01, 2013, 07:21:28 pm
For those who think that a BRA on a toad is a good idea here is a photo of the paint damage done over a nine year period by having one.  I took the BRA and baseplate off when I bought the car but when I saw The paint damage I put it back on.  It is real obvious that road grit under the bra worked into the paint deep enough to reach metal and rust is apparent. I read the instructions for attachment ( yeah, I do at times read them) one in particular amused me , it said if BRA gets wet to remove it and let it dry before reinstallation.  Seeing as attaching this  thing is a PITA I doubt that anyone would follow that advice.  Anyway, net will be a repaint of the hood, front fenders and bumper cover.

I agree they are a PITA, and as seen wheen it grit gets under them well. I have pulled jeep wranglers a bunch of miles with no damage just a good coat of wax 2 or 3 times a year.

We have made them for all types of units over the years. Whether custom or store bought, the key is to periodically remove and clean both the bra and the toad. Depending on distance traveled and road conditions, I would let the cleanliness of the toad dictate. You cannot make a mistake on doing too often.
