My SOB had the genset on a rollout sled, so maybe I'm spoiled. I expected FTs to have the same genset arrangement, but in looking at '03-'04 U320s, none of them are shown with the genset on a sled. Is it safe then to assume that is standard for those years? In that case, is there any difficulty in servicing the genset?
Royce, my genset is on a roll-out, I thought all Foretravel's with front end generators had them on rollers. It is bolted down for security.
Hmmmmm, on my 1999 U-270 and my 2000 U-320 both have the genset on a slide out carrier, however it is only used for servicing. I see SOB coaches with there front door opened and genders pulled out while running. Maybe for cooling? Have run mine four days straight in 90+ degree weather, no heat issues.
The way they are mounted sideways, makes it not necessary to be able to slide them out to access the filters or the oil drain plug. They can have the retaining bolts removed and then slide out. I feel they are much easier to service than the one that have to be slid out to service.
