Title: Tank display monitor question?
Post by: danieljeff545 on February 21, 2014, 10:18:26 pm
Has anyone had their monitor act up once and awhile? Maybe do to heat? Mine has always worked fine and as we got near Fort Myers Beach in heavy traffic I checked the rear view camera and found nothing. Switched to tank level and again nothing. Adjusting the dimmer...you guessed it nothing.

So after I set up on our site I checked the fuses and they were fine. Checked the lines and found nothing outta place. I figure 25 years is a good run and I would replace and upgrade once I got home. Well tonight I was packing some stuff up and figured I would check it and now it's working fine....I searched and found nothing related to heat so I was wondering if anyone else had a gremlin like this.
Thanks
Jeff

My 1990 would screw up like that ocassionally.  I think those old unts do generate a lot of heat.

I have found the one on the 240 will sometimes dissappear so I give it a thump and there it is.!!

John, my hand hammer is the first tool I always use lol! Carl from another post I had suggested a ground wire in the dash might be the issue with my speedo as it was with his.  I'm going to check it today. Maybe it's an issue with both? We'll see

I found no loose grounds under the dash before we left the park and drove home.  It worked fine for the 24 hours drive and I checked it numerous times.  Just another one of the 25 years old "quirks" with her i guess.....

Jeff  ----  I had a lot of come and goes on the monitor in our 91 GV and finally just replaced it with a unit from RVCAMS.  There is a lot of traffic on this in the forum.  There are some bangy, clunky things you can do, but are only temporary.  I am totally content with our new monitor and it installs easily and looks good.  Have a great day  ----  Fritz
