My water fill valve switch started to malfunction recently. When I pushed one of the fill switches, the fill valve would operate but it would stay in the on position. I replaced the latching relay to fix the problem. There are some threads on different types latching relays. The one I used is the same as the one being replaced and also the same that came on our 99. They are available for about $17 on the internet.

Can you give us the source? I spent a lot of time a few months ago trying to find something other than the VW Dimmer latching relay.
Sure. Here's the place I bought mine from:
20.21.9.012.0000 - Relays (http://goworldscape.com/store/relays/20-21-9-012-0000.html)
And a couple of other sources:
20.21.9.012.0000 - FINDER 20.21.9.012.0000 - CONTACTOR, SPST-NO, 12VDC, DIN-RAIL (http://www.newark.com/finder/20-21-9-012-0000/contactor-spst-no-12vdc-din-rail/dp/08X7043)
Relay Specialties, Inc. - A World of Components (Specializing in relays, (http://www.relayspec.com/product_details.php?pro_id=270228)
Probably should have bought two but being and eternal optimist...

Thank you!!! I don't know why it was so hard for me to find 6 months ago. That was exactly what I was searching for at the time. I'll save the source. My kitchen light (controlled there and at the door) uses the same relay, as well as the water pump. Beats the VW relay which is awkward and costs more.
It just mounts a little differently and the push on connectors will plug in vertically, instead of horizontaly. Drill and a self tapping screw should do the trick nicely on the little tab that sticks up if you buy one that has a tab. I did find a NOS VW on eBay cheap otherwise, the price is astronomical. Lots of other latching relays on eBay also. Easy to find using cross reference for the OEM # 111941583 . See: 111941583 headlight relay in eBay Motors | eBay (http://www.ebay.com/sch/6000/i.html?_nkw=111941583+headlight+relay&_dmpt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&_rdc=2) Autozone, O'Reilly's have a China clone for under $30.

Brad,
If you get the Finder unit, you have to wire it like the hand drawing on this schematic.
