Title: what is the location of the spare wires at the dash? PROBLEM SOLVED
Post by: Larry Rubin on March 06, 2014, 02:30:47 pm
I tried my best and probably am looking right at them but I can't find the dash location of the spare wires that run from the dash to the back.

Previous posts have mentioned "under dash left of center".    I have an 04 295.  By "under dash" does that mean under the removable dash cover - or - by looking up from the floor?

At the rear, there are 2 larger gauge (one red, one white) and 4 smaller gauge - all white.  Are they bundled together inside a single plastic loom at the front?

Kent Speers did a great job in locating the wires in the front. Suggest you remove the driver's seat as there is not much room. The wires are there but folded back on each other and hard to dig out. Do a search using the key words.

Well I'm still looking.    I did find a red wire number 299 under the dash which according to the wire list in the owner's manual says it's an "extra B37 to YY".

No luck, however, finding any reference to B37 or YY in the wiring diagrams.

Any ideas as to what where 299 goes to?

Larry,

Think they are a part of the big loom that comes up from the floor. Folded back on each other and secured with black tie wraps. I used an inexpensive Harbor Freigh signal injector at the back and Kent did the same. Home Depot also has them. They are only good to about 2 or 3 inches from the wire but do the trick. Think I paid ten dollars or so. You just find the wire at the back, connect the SI and use little receiver to put next to wires up front until it squeals.

Four nuts secure the seat and they spin off easily. A quick disconnect plug under the back of the seat is almost an instant off. Five minutes at the most to remove the seat but it's heavy and should have two people and a blanket to put it on. 1/2" or 7/16" combo will do the trick.

Thanks again ---- sounds like a good idea to get a signal injector.    I have contorted myself down on the floor so haven't needed to remove the seat.

Got the tracer and it worked right away.  I had no problem finding the wires but lots of fun getting them loose so I could use them.  They came up through the floor behind other cables and then were buried behind the left under dash HVAC duct.  And of course were then zip tied very tightly behind a support.  Took working with a cutter by feel to get access.

But now I have them and a tracer that is looking for more lost wires to set free!

Thanks Pierce very much!!!!
