Hello all, I'm in the market for a FT and came across a 2000 U320 4010 on the lot at #8365 - 2000 Foretravel 4010 With Slide & 10KW Gen for sale in Alvarado TX (http://www.mhsrv.com/2000-foretravel-4010-with-slide-10kw-gen-used-diesel-pusher-tx-i1095213) . The coach looks like it has the headlight upgrade along with the interior. New porcelain floors seats. There are a few issues I'm sure but has anyone looked at this unit on their website and if so what do you think? I went ahead and put a deposit down conditional on some work being completed to my satisfaction. Hopefully it's worth putting some money into. (My wife really likes it so what can I do?) I crawled under over and thru but I'm not versed in the FT's and would like like your comments. Thanks
Bruce and Teresa
Bruce,
Looks like a nice coach - are those decals or is it a Level 1 or 2 paint job (white areas gel coat, colored areas painted)? Nice that is has solar panels on it, too. Is there a free-standing dining table? The J-lounge doesn't appear to have the usual "football" shaped table with it.
Are service records with the coach? How are the bulkheads?
Check the age of the tires (not the tread) and see if you can find out how old the batteries are. Michelle already mentioned the bulkheads and the seemingly missing dinette table?
There are no particular caveats for a 2000 model that I am aware of. I see the front TV has been updated, but the rear still needs an update.
Should be no issues left for you to deal with at that price. Not saying it is too much, just that it isn't a steal where you'd be happy spending another $10k for repairs, replacements and updates.
Michelle, thanks for responding, I crawled under and looked but didn't see anything glaring back at me as far as the bulkheads. The table is missing in action as the previous owners had it removed ( they liked using TV trays). The table is no big deal to me as I don't care for booths. Maybe find a small drop leaf table at antique(junk) store. I'm kinda embarrassed but I'm not sure on the paint, I didn't pay it that much attention. But believe its decals. The interior and cabinets were in remarkable shape, new color backup camera, Bose sound system...etc.
And here are some great FoFum ideas on that update to flat screen that give you storage behind the TV
Will a 22" LED fit in the bedroom? (http://www.foreforums.com/index.php?topic=19750.0)
Thanks Brad and Christy, I realize that it's not a steal but I hope that I not being taken to the cleaners either, that's the reason why I'm here for your "expertise". The tires on front were 2013 and the rear were 09 's I believe. They are supposedly trying to find the records for the coach. The batteries were gel cell and looked rather new but none were marked so.....we're going back in a week to reinspect and give our final say. The speedo was jumping to and fro and the forward air was sounding like a WWII jeep gone bad. This is to be fixed to our satisfaction, but that remains to be seen.
If I call Foretravel and give them the VIN, can they tell me anything? I really like the Foretravel and hope that it works out but if not I'll look elsewhere. Thanks again and hope that I can be a Foretravel owner soon.
Bruce
Not sure what you can learn from Foretravel, but you can always try a call to see. Learning the coach build number is useful (a 4 digit number in the area of 5700 or thereabouts).
I don't see any Motorcader numbers on the coach. They may have been removed and a close exam in the bright sun might show the old numbers if there were any. If you find that, it may be possible to identify who at least one previous owner was as many here are or were Motorcaders and have access to directories.
Since you found it where you did, maybe it is a trade-in on a new Foretravel IH-45?
Good luck in your search, Bruce, and a hearty welcome to this group. It makes for a lot of comfort to have the folks here to answer questions about various issues, processes, etc.
I'm told the previous owners traded it in on a new model and there're going to give me their name and number so I can contact them about the coach.
Well, there ya go! That should get you some good information! Hope this is "the one" for you.
For sure looks like painted graphics, probably done by James Stallings at Foretravel when new. I showed Greg (Xtreme Paint & Graphics shop Foreman) a picture of a coach that had the same pattern on it that was at MOT, and he remembered painting them when he worked at Foretravel. The white being Gelcoat is a plus in my mind... Headlight upgrade done (looks like Xtreme's work) and a big plus! Looks like a nice coach! Hope it is the one... price looks fair if all the usual suspects pass muster, IMHO.

They are probably painted. It is the same design as my 01 and it is painted.
This coach appears to be well maintained. With the headlights $3500 plus and the TV upgrade and the paint it appears to be a nice coach. Ck out the slide functions. House batteries are a good $2000 so make sure you are good there. Why replace the front tires and leave 09 on the back which would be maybe 5 years old. They should be good for a while yet if not weather cracked. I use my dash air a lot now so I would make sure that is working properly. Ck all the awnings for ease of putting out and ensure no holes. The one over the slide awning is important. Even in after a heavy rain if slide is out, before you bring it in tilt the coach with the leveling system to remove any excess water on top of the slide. If you don't do this the water will come inside. I went from a 36 to a 40 ft and it seems to have more room than 4 ft. Make sure the aux compressor is working correctly. Ck for air leaks and does the coach stay level when all is off. Many Foretravel owners have chased minor air leaks as they are sometimes a pain to find. Tks DAN
Bruce, as someone in the market, that looks like a fantastic buy to me. After all, that's a M11 powered U320 with slide, updated lights, and tile floors. That price is the lowest I've seen for such a coach.
Scott
site has it listed as SOLD----SALE PENDING...that was a nice one!

Thanks to all of you that have add your insights to our quest of becoming a Foretravel owner. Thanks again Mike for taking the time to call me and putting in your 2 cents worth, even though it was a lot more valuable than that!
I called Foretravel of Texas today and spoke with their service department and they were very patient and answered what questions they could. I found out that the Build number was 5775 and that it was in last year for service. We are going to pull the trigger and buy it so maybe in the next week or so we can pick it up. Wish us luck.
I love mine, you will too I am sure
Congratulations that is wonderful, I hope you enjoy many happy miles.
Welcome! We have really enjoyed our 95 U320SE, and our only regret is that we currently can't use it more frequently. (Jobs, and that kind of stuff, keep getting in the way!)
Feel free to ask plenty of questions. This forum is an outstanding resource!
We have the same model and love it.
