Title: Dash access
Post by: deputydick on March 31, 2014, 11:03:58 am
I have a 1999 U270 and the odometer is not showing. Several members suggested I check connection at speedometer and manual also says check the plug. Is there a way to open up the dash so I can get to it. There is no room to come from the bottom. Thought I might be missing something. Thanks for the help!!

My dash simply raises up. Yes, it takes some force, but it is all one long panel, hinged at the windshield side. Try pushing/pulling up at the passenger side and work your way over to the driver side.

We have a 99' U270 and the dash is hinged at back closest to the windshield with two cabinet latches, one at either end. If you slip one hand under each corner near the dash panel, you should be able to pop the cover loose from the catches. Here are a couple of pictures of our dash cover open...

GREAT, Thanks. I did not want to force it without knowing for sure.

That is the in-dash VMSPC computer and media center... here is a post in someone else's topic that I made on the project wit more pictures... VMSpc on your iPad or iPhone or Android Tablet (http://www.foreforums.com/index.php?topic=17146.msg113273#msg113273)
I guess I owe a write up on this project because I said I would do it... but not today!
