Title: E(rror) message from Odometer display?
Post by: TheBrays on March 31, 2014, 09:16:07 pm
I got  chance to take the coach out for about a 20 min drive today. I did not notice anything abnormal about the speedometer readings.
After I got the coach back in its site and just before I shut the engine down I noticed that the lcd panel on the VDO speedometer displayed "E    27.5" . I thought this might be something to do with a trip meter function but depressing the button on the bottom of the meter didn't change anything.

Any clues?
Again, the display showed "E  27.5"
I doubt it could be 'elapsed hours this session'...

Will know more when next we move the coach in preparation for departure.
Scheduled in FOT April 28 for 3 days.

TIA
thanks

Mine was replaced (by ForeTravel) at about 21k before I bought it. From time to time mine does the same thing, it reads some kind of mombo jumbo in the odo, then it returns to normal on the next restart. It does however keep recording the correct mileage, according to the fuel mileage. I have another new one just have not got around to installing it. I have checked all connections and grounds. You might try contacting VDO. If you decide to change it there are some settings in the new one, James T at F/T told me what they where, I don't recall them though.

While on this odometer subject I have finally heard back from the VDO service centre in Ont Canada that I sent the gauge VDO to them as the odom' was not reading but did show mph. They have had it for 3 weeks and today told me they do not have the part to repair it. I know a few of you have replaced the unit out of a circa 95 GV but what had to be done for the wiring differences to the newer digital ones. Mine has different connections on back so is their a swap over wiring harness available or what?
