Title: water fill
Post by: crosscountry on April 07, 2014, 10:53:21 pm

Question #1  How do I pour a gallon of bleach into the water tank? Is there an accessible plug on the tank ? I just received the manuals today and have not had time to zero in on that topic if there is one.

 Thanks in advance. Tom

I understand some folks pour the bleach into the water fill hose and then connect.  We have an exterior sediment filter.  I remove the filter and fill up the filter canister with bleach and then push through with street water.  2 to 3 times takes care of a gallon.

My coach is quit a bit older then yours so this might not apply. I have a vent/overflow hose that is only held in place by a hose clamp and easily removed allowing easy access to the fresh water tank. I have poured bleach in the fill hose and pushed with fresh water as well. Wear old clothes if you choose this method.... The bleached jean look went out in the 80's I think. Lesson learned..

thanks    looks like the hose method. The hose will have the benefit of a bleaching as well.  It's up the ladder with a quick tie and a funnel.

I have used Hydrogen Peroxide too and no bleach taste.  Bleach works well too.  i have tried to keep the water rotated in the tank and try to use city water that has belch in it.  I does prevent the need to bleach it too many times.  Heck in Houston, I could smell the chlorine in the water.  I used a pool test kit to see and the test cup turned red showing a lost as much as the pool.

Here is some modifications others have done to facilitate adding bleach.

Household bleach is about 5% chlorine.  Swimming pool bleach can be up to 95%.  Diluting pool bleach say 3:1 then calculating amount based on it's resulting strength vs regular bleach.  Poring that smaller amount of fluid in the hose will be easier.  Remember to protect skin and eyes also do not breath fumes.  Chlorine is nasty stuff.  Fill immediately to flush the hose and valves.  Drain and rinse tank well before use.  Not tried it myself yet but have a friend who does this and it works for him.
