Title: VDO mechanical air gauge replacement
Post by: bill & jan velting on April 08, 2014, 12:32:32 pm
Hi everyone

Has anyone on the forum replaced a faulty VDO dash air gauge?  Our top gauge hasn't worked properly sense we've owned the coach.  At first it was approximately 40# high and after tapping it lightly it is now 60# off.  We've replaced the air governor on the compressor in case that was the issue but to no avail.

I've found a site that looks like the gauge I have but was hoping for some feedback before ordering it..

Before I replaced the gauge, I would bring the air pressure up to the governor setting / popoff of dryer, then compare the resistance of the two senders that provide the dash gauge Reading's.  If both with in 5% of each other, then look at the dash gauge. Problem could be the sender on tank.
Some have replaced the original gauges with mechanical gauges, an easy update.
