Title: Propane tank gauge bad
Post by: Caflashbob on April 09, 2014, 11:59:20 am
My 97's propane tanks gauge reads empty with half of a tank still in it.

Anyone have a lead where to get a replacement gauge/float unit?

Foretravel does not have them anymore.

Thanks for any help.

Bob

Bob,

I would talk with a propane dealer.  They may have one or at least have a lead for you.

Check with your local propane dealer or a LP equipment wholesaler.  Here in GA its Rutherford Equipment.

Manchester bought out brunner who made my tank in the late 90's and has no parts for a #1516 tank.

Anyone pulled one out?

Bob,

We had some tanks on forklifts that would read wrong.  Here is how we fixed them.  Don't know if this applies to your tank but if you take a magnet and move it over the gauge pointer and it moves then it's the pointer that's stuck.  Doing it a few times may free it.  This only applies to a magnetic drive gauge.  Otherwise the old percussive fix might free it.

Aw Keith, you beat me to it. Magnets or thumping have released many a stuck guage in my time as well..
