Title: Thank you
Post by: Mark D on April 13, 2014, 09:12:59 pm
So we've owned our Foretravel for 3 1/2 months now.  During that time I've changed the engine oil, coolant, air filter, hoses, condenser fan motor, fuel filters, and most of the same for the generator as well.  I've fixed interior issues.  3.5 months later, despite chasing issues I could NOT BE HAPPIER with my decision.  The issues are relatively small and I feel like I live in a HOME, not an RV.  It seems to excel at everything.

One of the biggest reasons I bought a Foretravel is because of this Forum and the helpful people who have tirelessly answered my questions.  There is a level of competence here that I've not found in any other RV forum.  Similarly Barry Beam's site Foretravel Motorhome technical help and information links (http://beamalarm.com/foretravel-links/foretravel-technical-help.html) has been indispensible in my research both before and after purchase.  I now couldn't imagine owning another motorhome, even a Wanderlodge.

I spent at least $10K more on this RV than it's really worth and even that was $30K more than an equivalent Fleetwood motorhome.  So at least for me, you guys are seriously propping up the value of a used Foretravel and your help has been amazing.  When I eventually sell, I know I'll get a decent price, again because of all of you.

So thank you to everyone involved!  You've all made a serious difference in my ownership so far.

You guys got my favorite floorplan. I have similar with two slides. I just put a new toilet in too.  It is a high rise Thetford aria I think. As nice as a residential and much more water control.  RVs our age have unique issues and when addressed will go another 15 years.  Glad the forum us a help. It has helped me a lot too.

When I see some of the forum members here running 80's and early 90's coaches it makes me feel a lot better about spending the dough!  I do like the residential toilet but man it wastes a ton of water.  I looked up from underneath and I believe the toilet gasket leaks a bit.  I can see some mold up in there.  Since we have to pull the toilet sooner or later to remediate, we are toying with buying a dual flush residential toilet which uses only 0.8gal for #1.  My better half can't bring herself to spend the $$ on the aria or the dometic equivalent though I think one of those would be my choice.  At least the replacement residential should help us go closer to a week before draining which would be in line with our usage on our Winnebago.

Piku, our Thetford Aria, like Johns has a switch for selecting a water saving mode.  You can control the amount of water you use.  Can really extend time between tank dumps.
