Title: Towing
Post by: Gary Bouland (RIP) on April 14, 2014, 01:54:04 pm
I'm sure the answer is right in front of me but I can't find it.
A prospective buyer asked what the tow hitch is rated at on my 95 U280 ?
I THINK that it is 10K, Right or not ?
I can't seem to lay my hands on this figure.

Hitch rating needs to be considered and GCWR as well.

Gary,
Mine has the rating on the side of the hitch.  You might look there.

Gary, the class of the receiver type hitch should be marked right on the hitch somewhere.  2 inches (51 mm) receivers are available in Class III, IV, and V.  Class I – up to 2,000 pounds (910 kg),
Class II – up to 3,500 pounds (1,600 kg),
Class III – up to 5,000 pounds (2,300 kg) – larger loads,
Class IV – up to 10,000 pounds (4,500 kg) – larger loads,
and some Class IV/V hitches are available in 2.5 inches (64 mm) opening sizes.
