Title: Fresh start on the water heater/pump area
Post by: Gayland Baasch on April 19, 2014, 09:32:17 pm
I needed to pull the water heater out so I could install bypass valves and an electric hot shot hookup so decided to just start with a blank slate, so to speak.  I also wanted to remove the fill line as I don't use it, and the accumulator brackets.

Question #1, would the faucet type flexible hose/connectors be acceptable to replace the pex, or would they be to restrictive?  With 1/2" fip they would screw right on to the tank, pump and water heater connections.

Question # 2, Why not do away with the "elaborate" square tubing hanger shelf they used to set the water heater on.  Looks to me like it would be simpler and cleaner to just build in a shelf supported from the walls and maybe a couple small legs.  My thinking is it would make it easier to work on. That would maybe work well for those wanting to change from a 6 gallon to a 10 gallon as well.

I used the flexible faucet type hose and so far no problems and has the same flow as the old Pex.
